The LYC social program includes the following activities:
  • Monthly barbecue and pot-luck, which is held the first Friday evening of each month. Please bring something to barbecue and something to share (eg. appies, veggies, salad or dessert). The clubhouse bar is not open for these events, so bring your own refreshments. You can arrive as early as you like - the barbecues are fired-up around sixish.

  • Monthly members' meetings, which are held on the second Tuesday of each month except for July and August. These meetings usually include a guest speaker or some other interesting diversion. the June and December meetings are "Appy" nights, where members bring appetizers to share. Do not bring any other refreshments to these meetings, as all club facilities are in place.

  • The Annual Commodore's Ball, which is usually held on the third Saturday of each January. This is a great opportunity for a wonderful night of dining, dancing and enjoying the company of fellow members. It should not be missed.

  • Special occasions such as a January Robbie Burns celebration and a March Saint Paddy's night provide the opportunity for a most enjoyable evening at the LYC clubhouse.

  • Our club opening day is held on the first Sunday of May each year. It's an opportunity to get your boat clean and ship-shape, dress it with plenty of signal flags, get yourself dressed in your nattiest yachting gear (if you like), and sail around the harbour to salute the commodore. The sail-past is followed by festivities in the club house.

  • New year's eve cruise. Each new year's eve we cruise from our individual moorages to the reciprocal dock at the clubhouse for a party from which we don't have to drive home. On new year's morning we cruise down the harbour to Transfer Beach to encourage the polar bear swimmers.
